Love Your Home Again

Additional Information

This charming duplex, located in the quaint Chic’s Beach community on the bayside of Virginia Beach, was purchased as a vacation rental with the goal of creating two inviting, functional, and highly durable spaces for guests to enjoy. At just 1,200 square feet per side, maximizing every inch of space was essential. While each unit was designed with its own distinct personality, both were thoughtfully curated to balance comfort, style, and practicality for rental living.

Structural Renovations

The property was completely reworked to improve flow, functionality, and livability throughout both units. Renovations included:

  • Reconfiguring the entrances by removing the original doors and creating new side entrances for improved curb appeal and functionality
  • Opening part of the kitchen wall to create a more connected and airy dining area
  • Relocating the washer and dryer from the kitchen to the second floor to free up valuable living space
  • Adding a first-floor half bath for convenience and entertaining
  • Enclosing an existing balcony to create a flexible office/den space
  • Installing French doors leading to the deck to enhance natural light and indoor-outdoor living

Interior & Design Updates

Every finish and furnishing was selected with both durability and comfort in mind, ensuring the spaces could withstand rental use while still feeling warm and welcoming. Updates included:

  • Replacing the wood support walls in the parking area
  • Installing new flooring throughout both units
  • Fully renovating the main bathroom
  • Adding an additional bathroom to one of the bedrooms for increased functionality and guest comfort
  • Installing all-new kitchen cabinetry and adding a kitchen island for improved storage and gathering space
  • Incorporating relaxed coastal tones, durable materials, and comfortable furnishings inspired by the beachside setting

The result is two beautifully refreshed vacation homes that feel bright, effortless, and welcoming — thoughtfully designed for both everyday functionality and memorable seaside getaways.
